The Bayou Giant is 14 inches of the meanest reaction strike bait on the market, but don’t let its large size fool you — this bait will catch fish as small as one pound and as big as your imagination. The secret to this bait’s success is its size. It has an 8 inch body and 6 inches of tail. Fish won’t strike the Bayou Giant to eat it whole; fish will strike the Bayou Giant at the head with the intent to KILL IT because its large size presents a threat, replicating a snake or large eel that will eat the eggs and the hatch of a fish. The Bayou Giant is the bait that fish love to kill and it produces the most aggressive strikes of any worm on the market. The smaller 11 inch Hogwild Worm is also an excellent reaction strike worm bait, offering a different action.

Use a light sinker and rig it Texas style and swim it across beds, lily pads and other open structure.
One of most effective ways to fish this bait is to dead-stick it, so peg a weight to the hook and drop the Bayou Giant in the fish’s territory and let it sit there. The bait will stand on its head, and because the bait is completely buoyant the tail will float. The design of the tail will cause it to constantly wave from the slightest movement of water. The posture of the Bayou Giant makes it appear to the fish that it is feeding off the bottom in its territory, posing a threat to the fish, so the fish will aggressively strike the bait at its head in order to kill it, taking the hook into its mouth and the rest is Bayou Giant history.
