The Bayou Craw is a larger version of the Bayou Bug, looking like and acting like a real crawfish. The pork fat cooked into the bait makes the claws stand up to simulate the natural defensive posture of a crawfish protecting itself. This defensive posture of the Bayou Craw will challenge a fish, producing explosive strikes. The unique ring design of the body will hold air between the rings that is released when you stop pulling the bait through the water, replicating the same live action characteristics of a real crawfish. Crawfish color varies depending on the color of the water; lighter colors in dark and muddy water compared to more true colored crawfish in clear water, and the claws are often a different color. The Bayou Craw is one of the most versatile crawfish creature baits on the market because of the different ways that it can be fished.

The Bayou Craw is a good spring time bait, and it works well in the summer when the water is high after a heavy rain.
The Bayou Craw can be fished Texas rig, dragging it slowly across the bottom, or fish it Carolina rigged.
It can be rigged with weight pegged to the bait either with a peg slip sinker (a bullet weight or screw in type weight pegged to the bait), or it can be fished weightless or with a weighted hook.
It is a great bed fishing bait, flipped like a jig or a tube.
The Bayou Craw can be fished as a jig trailer by cutting half of the body off and placing it on a be 3/4 or 1 ounce jig, creating a monster jig bait, and yes, people do fish it that way because many of the bass swimming around most of the lakes in Louisiana are a Florida species of bass that reach 10 and 12 pounds. These fish won’t hesitate to strike a huge bait, even a bait that weighs a pound because there are crawfish that will weigh in at a pound.
